Crosshair Choice

This is mostly preference. Try choosing a color that no maps use which stands out compared to the other colors and something that is easy on the eye. Something like a small Dot crosshair for precision aiming with a small scale. People say that doing a moving shock combo is much easier with a bigger crosshair. I find that to be true. But in UT2004, shock combos are pretty easy anyway.
